The full transition to the citizen identification system based on an individual identification number (IIN) is expected in Azerbaijan by the end of the year, a source close to the project told Trend.
The source noted that a separate column has been allotted for the IIN-code of citizens in the new identity cards.
“What will the transition to the system if identification by IIN -code bring? For example, while today, in order to get information about the fines for violation of traffic rules, it is necessary to specify the number and series of driver's license, in the near future, it will be possible to get this information through IIN-code. This applies not only to traffic fines. The information in other areas will also be available, as many agencies will switch to the new identification system," the source said.
For example, the source said, the system will provide information on number of apartments registered in the name of an individual, and he will no longer need to enter subscriber codes each time when he pays utility bills.
"By means of the IIN code, a citizen will be able to see this data in one window and make payment in one click," the source said.
