BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. The adoption of a national strategy in the field of cybersecurity and information of Azerbaijan will improve the country's global indices in world ratings, Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security Tural Mammadov told Trend.

According to Mammadov, the country has already achieved great success in improving its position in the world ratings for information and cybersecurity.

"Currently, this strategy has been approved by government agencies and submitted for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers. We hope that the Cabinet of Ministers will make a positive decision in the near future," he added.

The official stressed that a bill on the protection of personal data was also been prepared in the country.

"It was aligned with European GDPR [General Data Protection Regulation] standards for the protection of personal data and is one of the most advanced laws in Europe. The main and responsible body within the framework of this bill is the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport," Mammadov explained.

Speaking about the types of cyber attacks used against Azerbaijan, he noted DDoS (hacker attack on a computer system), phishing and cyber fraud.

"Threats such as phishing (attacks on the end user) and cyber fraud are mainly carried out on behalf of large Azerbaijani companies and manifest themselves in the form of offering financial services, as well as vacancies," added the official.
