BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Ukraine will become an important part of the Middle Corridor after the restoration of ferry communication with Georgia, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev said during the opening ceremony of the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024, Trend reports.
“Transport and logistics is an extremely important topic for countries, especially for my country, Ukraine, as well as for other states with huge transit potential. We expect the ferry service between Ukraine and Georgia to be restored soon. This will allow our country to become an important part of the global Middle Corridor and transit route. We hope that this meeting, this significant event in Baku, will assist us in improving logistics links between China and the EU market, as well as between the Caucasus and Ukraine, between Türkiye and Ukraine as part of Europe,” he said.
The Middle Corridor links container rail freight transportation networks of China and the European Union countries through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe.
Multilateral multimodal transport infrastructure links the Caspian and Black Sea ferry terminals with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.
The Middle corridor facilitates increased cargo traffic from China to Türkiye, as well as to European countries and in the opposite direction.
The route train along this corridor delivers cargo from China to Europe in an average of 20-25 days, and this is one of the main advantages of this transport corridor.
