P roduction of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan will hit 3 percent of the total power consumption after 10 years, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New technologies Aset Issekeshev said at the Sixth Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY on Wednesday.

"By 2014, production of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan should reach one billion kilowatt-hours or just over one percent of the total energy consumption. While by 2020 it will hit 3 percent," Issekeshev said.

He said despite the fact that Kazakhstan created all the conditions to attract investments in the energy sector, at present, the government conducts work to amend the law on renewable energy sources.

"This will create a new additional impetus and incentives for investment in these alternative energy sources," he said.

Issekeshev said power generation hit 82 billion kilowatt-hours in 2010. By 2015, Kazakhstan will reach the level of over 100 billion kilowatt-hours.
