BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 4

Trend:

Kazakhstan and Belarus intend to increase the volume of mutual trade in agricultural sector, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

The issue was discussed by the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Rustem Kurmanov and a delegation of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Igor Brylo.

According to the information, during the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, food safety issues, development of the dairy industry, training in the field of agriculture.

It was noted that the increase of the volume of mutual trade in agricultural products is a top priority for the joint work of the two ministries. Despite the decrease in the turnover of agricultural products due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential for the development of trade between the countries has great prospects for further development.

In addition, the parties discussed food security issues. Kurmanov noted that Kazakhstan is doing a lot to increase the production of agricultural products and food in order to ensure the internal market and realize the export potential.

“I propose joint cooperation in this direction. It is impossible not to mention your country as a state that fully provides itself with all basic food products,” Kurmanov said.

“One of the most popular products in China is natural dairy products. I propose to return to the discussion of the implementation of joint production of dairy products aimed at the Chinese market on the territory of Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation. We are also interested in the Belarusian experience in the production of baby food from milk,” he said.
