Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas records y-o-y growth in oil/gas condensate output in 1Q2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Oil and gas condensate production volume of Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas National Company in the first quarter of 2023 totaled 5.9 million tons (499 kbopd), which is an increase of 8.7 percent year-on-year, a source at the company told Trend.

Meanwhile, production volume of natural and associated gas in the reporting period of 2023 increased by 12.3 percent year-on-year to 2.4 billion cubic meters.

According to the company, oil output from Tengiz field in 1Q2023 grew by 0.8 percent, amounting to 1.4 million tons (130 kbopd). Associated gas production at the field increased by 0.1 percent, totaling 811 million cubic meters.

A significant increase has been recorded in production from Kashagan field, as the transaction for the repurchase of shares in the project from Samruk-Kazyna JSC was successfully completed in September last year. Thus, oil output from the field grew by 105.5 percent to 794,000 tons (70 kbopd), and gas output increased by 113.3 percent to 503 million cubic meters.

However, KazMunayGas also reported that oil and condensate production at Karachaganak declined by 1.3 percent - to about 281 million tons (25 kbopd) year-on-year, due to restrictions on the reception of raw gas for processing from the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant.

At the same time, the volume of oil and condensate production at operating assets increased by 1.8 percent to 3.4 million tons (275 kbopd).

Earlier, the company reported that, in 2022, oil and gas condensate output totaled 22 million tons (456 kbopd) - up by 1.7 percent year-on-year.
