ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 13. Tariffs for transporting feed by rail have been reduced by 80 percent for farmers in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
Cheaper fares were introduced by the national carrier, Kazakhstan Railways, for the period from September 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
This support was provided to agricultural producers in the region following the working trip of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Mangistau region.
This year, the executive power of the Mangistau region also allocated 727.7 million tenge (about $1.57 million) to subsidize the cost of feed.
To date, 59,200 tons of hay have been harvested in the region, which is 73.5 percent of the planned volume, and 18,400 tons of concentrated feed, or 72.2 percent of the plan.
