ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 15. Retail trade volume in Kazakhstan amounted to $11.2 trillion ($24.1 billion), which is 7.3 percent more than the level of the corresponding period in 2022, Trend reports.
Data from the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan shows that retail sales of goods by trading enterprises amounted to 7,8 trillion tenge (about $16.7 billion), which is 9.5 percent more than the level of the corresponding period in 2022.
The share of food products in the total volume of retail trade is 31.2 percent, and non-food products are 68.8 percent.
The largest increase in sales volume was noted for non-food products, namely at enterprises selling motor fuel, cars, electrical household appliances, pharmaceutical products, computers, peripheral equipment, and software, food, drinks, and tobacco products, footwear, knitwear, and hosiery products.
As of September 1, 2023, the volume of inventory of trading enterprises (by reporting enterprises) in retail trade amounted to 1.48 trillion tenge (about $3.18 billion), in trading days 66 days (as of September 1, 2022, the volume of inventory in retail trade amounted to 1.14 trillion tenge (about $2.46 billion), in trading days 52 days).
The largest share of the total volume of retail trade in the republic from January through August 2023 falls on the cities of Almaty (31.4 percent), Astana (12.9 percent), Karaganda (8.0 percent), and East Kazakhstan (6.2 percent).
