BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. Representatives of Kyrgyzstan's and Uzbekistan's coal mining industry agreed to develop cooperation in coal mining, Trend reports with reference to the kabar.kg.

During the recent forum in Kyrgyzstan, a memorandum was signed on bilateral cooperation on coal mining between the "Kyrgyzkomur" and "Uzbekcoal" companies.

"The discussion focused on issues and suggestions for collaboration, building a working relationship between Kyrgyz coal producers and Uzbek coal purchasers," the message says.

In Kyrgyzstan, coal accounts for more than half of the country's fuel and energy balance. The total volume of Kyrgyzstan's coal mining in 2021 amounted to 2.9 million tons of coal.

Meanwhile, according to the Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of Kyrgyz coal exports to Uzbekistan in the five months of 2022 amounted to $4.6 million, which is a decrease of 6.1 percent compared to the same period of 2021 ($4.9 million)
