BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The reason why the first solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan was chosen to be built in the Issyk-Kul region of the country is unique climate conditions in the region that allow for acceptable tariffs to be maintained at high levels of electricity production, the press service of Russian Unigreen Energy Company told Trend.

“We see the readiness of the Kyrgyz side for dialogue, which allows for the project to be structured in accordance with the requirements for investment projects of this scale,” the source said.

The company noted that at present Unigreen Energy is in negotiations with a pool of creditors to attract loan financing for the construction of a solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan, including with the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

“We are convinced that our solar power plant will harmoniously integrate into the overall energy system and, moreover, will help increase its stability and reduce network losses. Given the plans for the development of Kyrgyzstan as a whole and the Issyk-Kul district in particular, such additional green generation will provide a basis for further unlocking the industrial and recreational potential of the country,” Unigreen said.

The company added that Unigreen always welcomes a long-term approach to investment planning and is ready to assist government partners in implementing plans for the energy transition.

Kyrgyzstan and Russian Unigreen Energy signed an agreement on investing in the construction of the first solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan with a capacity of 220 kW on March 29, 2023. The total investment of the project is up to $300 million.

Unigreen Energy is a Russian energy company that engages in developing projects based on solar energy in South Asia, Southeast Asia, South Africa, Latin America, and CIS countries.
