Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan, EAEU down by 8%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) countries decreased by 8.2 percent from January through March 2023, year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

In the reporting period, trade turnover with the EAEU made up $825.7 million, or 30.3 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade turnover. The figure decreased compared to $899.8 million in 1Q2022.

The statistics shows, that exports from Kyrgyzstan to the EAEU reached $232.8 million (53.5 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total exports), which is 13.3 percent more than $205.4 million in 1Q2022.

The imports to Kyrgyzstan from the EAEU amounted to $529.9 million (25.9 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total imports), decreasing by 15 percent over $694.3 million in the corresponding months of 2022.

The largest share of the country's trade with the EAEU member states in the reporting period fell on Russia ($505.3 million) and Kazakhstan ($298.8 million).

The EAEU is an international organization of regional economic integration founded in 2014. The member states of the EAEU are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover amounted to $2.7 billion from January through March 2023, which is an increase of 25.4 percent over the same period of 2022 ($2.1 billion).
