BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14. Tajikistan slightly increased electricity production in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports via Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.

The electricity generation in Tajikistan in the reporting period amounted to 10.4 billion kW/h, which is an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to the statistics, Tajikistan from January through June 2022 exported electricity worth $31.8 million.

The main importing countries of electricity from Tajikistan in the reporting period were: Afghanistan ($19.1 million) and Uzbekistan ($12.2 million).

Earlier, at the beginning of July 2022, the World Bank (WB) approved an additional grant in the amount of $80 million as part of the ongoing energy development project in Tajikistan.
