President Emomali Rahmon attends inauguration of largest chemical plant in Tajikistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. Azot, the largest chemical plant in Tajikistan, has been put into operation by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon after having undergone reconstruction work, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Tajik president.

According to the press service, when fully operated, the plant will produce 123,600 tons of ammonia and 180,000 tons of urea annually. The amount of money spent on the reconstruction of the plant totaled $400 million.

Following the reconstruction, the modernization of steam, water supply systems, and ammonia and urea plants was carried out with appliances of the technology of the Japanese Yokogawa Electric Corporation, and the equipment of Centum VP.

During the renovation, instrumentation and emergency protection systems in the production facilities of the plant were also completely replaced using equipment from various foreign companies, such as Siemens, Samson Technologies, Emerson, and others.

Furthermore, during the renovation work, the shops of the plant were equipped with new technology and provided with an automatic control system.

At the same time, in order to increase energy efficiency, 3 out of 6 refrigerators of the plant were modernized by the Russian Venteco company.

The equipment and technologies used in reconstruction were provided by Japan, France, Russia, Germany, the US, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, Ireland, Iran, India, Belarus, Ukraine, Türkiye, Poland, Qatar, and China.

Azot, a chemical plant located in the city of Levakant in the southwest of Tajikistan, has been put into operation first time in April 1967. The plant produces urea, carbon dioxide, and liquid nitrogen.
