Turkmenistan notes significant increase in bank assets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The total assets of all registered credit institutions of Turkmenistan as of March 1, 2023 amounted to over 154.08 billion Turkmen manats ($43.97 billion), Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

According to the information, this is 9.7 percent more than the same date last year (140.34 billion Turkmen manats, or $40.05 billion).

Of the total assets, loans granted to credit institutions, enterprises, organizations and citizens at the beginning of March 2023 amounted to 119.56 billion Turkmen manats ($34.12 billion), which is 7.8 percent more than in the same month of 2022 (110.85 billion Turkmen manats, or $31.63 billion).

At the specified time, correspondent accounts with the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and funds in reserve accounts increased by 32.9 percent compared to the beginning of March 2022 (15.93 billion Turkmen manats, or $4.54 billion), amounting to 21.18 billion Turkmen manats ($6.04 billion).

Meanwhile, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on May 2, 2023 is set at 3.5 manats per USD.
