Negotiations are underway on granting Uzbekistan the status of a beneficiary country of the GSP + system, Trend reports referring to the press service of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan.
It is reported that the Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, Ravshan Alimov met with the Chairman of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Central Asian countries and Mongolia Fulvio Martusciello.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union. Also, the chairmen exchanged views on holding the next meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
It was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and the EU have significantly intensified in recent years and the mutually beneficial partnership is expanding in all areas.
In addition, negotiations are underway on an agreement on expanded cooperation, granting Uzbekistan the status of a beneficiary country of the GSP + system, which will allow exporting more than six thousand names of Uzbek goods to the EU countries duty-free.
Martusciello highly appreciated the transformations carried out in Uzbekistan, the favorable conditions created in the country for foreign investors.
He also noted the great interest of European companies in the implementation of large long-term projects in Uzbekistan in priority sectors of the economy.
