Resource funds for mortgage payments in Uzbekistan in 2021 amount to 10.5 trillion soums ($1 billion), Director of the Department of the Ministry of Finance Farrukh Botirov said at a meeting of the committee on economic reforms, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
According to the envisaged program for 2021, it is planned to build 54,000 apartments in Uzbekistan, which is twice the volume of construction of last year.
At the same time Botirov said that the main problem in Uzbekistan’s banking system is the lack of long-term payments.
“By ensuring long-term payments, the popularization of mortgage loans will be ensured,” he said.
It was noted that at the expense of the state budget, it is planned to purchase some 1,000 apartments from all regions and the city of Tashkent and lease them out for social rent to low-income families.
In addition, payments on mortgage loans will be allocated for a period of 15 years without a grace period. The initial cost of a mortgage loan is fixed on the size of the cost of the purchased apartment in cities - at least 20 percent, in rural areas - at least 10 percent. Subsidies of 10 percent of the estimated cost of housing to cover part of the down payment are allocated only in cities.
