BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will allocate some $393 million for the construction of a combined-cycle power plant in Uzbekistan’s Sirdaryo region, Trend reports via the statement of the bank.
The statement says that the representatives of the bank signed an investment agreement with Enersok Foreign Enterprise, a general contractor for the construction of a 1.6 MW combined-cycle power plant.
Enersok Foreign Enterprise was established by an international consortium, which won the international tender to become investors in the construction project.
The consortium is consisting of French EDF International S.A.S., Nebras Power Investment Management B.V. of Qatar, Japanese Sojitz Corporation, and Kyuden International Corporation
Besides JBIC, Japanese Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Société Générale (French-based multinational financial services company), as well as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will also provide loans worth $805 million for the implementation of the project.
The combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 1.6 MW will be built in Uzbekistan's Bayaut district of the Sirdorya region. For the construction of the plant, 61.9 hectares of land plot was allocated in the district. The plant is envisaged to produce about 12 billion kWh of electricity per year, thus saving some 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
