TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 19. The Central Bank of Uzbekistan revealed information on the sales of gold ingots and commemorative coins made of precious metals, Trend reports.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has sold 13,130 gold ingots with a total weight of 255 kg since starting the sales in 2020.
The bank also issued five series of coins from 2021 through 2023. Total circulation of gold coins amounted to 3,550 pieces (72 kg), while sales of silver coins reached 3,900 pieces (121 kg).
The population of Uzbekistan purchased 2,951 gold coins weighing 61.4 kg and 3,864 silver coins weighing 120.17 kg.
Information on measured gold ingots purchased by the Uzbek population:
5 grams—3,793 units with a total weight of 18.96 kg
10 grams—3,854 units weighting 38.5 kg
20 grams—2,545 units with a total weight of 51 kg
50 grams, 2,938 units, weighting 147 kg
Earlier this month, gold prices in Uzbekistan rose by more than 1 percent and reached the record set in May 2023. The price for one ingot of 5 grams amounts to 3.9 million Uzbek soums ($320) as of September 18, while the cost of one gram is fixed at 790,940 soums ($65). Since the beginning of the year, the prices for the precious metal have fluctuated and updated the quotation record several times: the price for the smallest ingot crossed the mark of 3.8 million soums ($312) for the first time in March and approached 3.9 million soums ($320) in early May.
