TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 26. Uzbekistan plans to increase country's export potential through expanding the area for the production of early vegetables by 15,000 hectares, Trend reports.
To do this, until February 1, 2024, agricultural land will be auctioned in lots of an average of 1 hectare, where farmers can purchase lease rights to land plots. Holders of the right to lease land plots at these auctions will be provided with loans for the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, films for tunnel greenhouses, as well as for working capital.
During the visit of the head of state to Surkhandarya region, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the leading role of this region in the production of early vegetables and the formation of volumes of these products available for export.
In particular, the potential of this region and unused opportunities in increasing the production of early vegetables and exports of the country in the fruit and vegetable segment were noted.
Meanwhile, during the 2nd Turkic Agro Business Forum in Baku, Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov said that Uzbekistan is interested in attracting $50 billion of foreign investment in the agricultural sector of the country.
The minister noted that the textile industry, gardening, animal husbandry, seed production, and others are important and promising sectors in the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan.
