Iran is one of the leading countries in combating narcotics and needs other countries' support to continue work in this regard, Commander of Iran's police, Ismail Ahmadi Muqaddam said during the exercises "security and forces" in the Sistan and Baluchistan provinces, IRNA reported.
The commander said Iran is a transit route to transport narcotics to the Arab countries and Europe, and from this point of view, other countries' support is necessary to implement Iran's program to combat narcotics.
"The whole world has problems with narcotics. This leads to the collapse of the world's youth. The struggle against this should be done with the cooperation of all countries," Muqaddam said.
Muqaddam said if European countries allocate one percent of the funds that they spend on fighting narcotics in their countries to strengthen the Iranian-Afghan border, they will prevent the supply of narcotics in their countries.
Over the past three years, the Iranian police have invested $800 million to strengthen its border with Afghanistan and Pakistan. "A trench with 460-kilometers length was dug and a concrete fence with a 80-kilometers length was built, and 160 checkpoints have been opened along the borders," Muqaddam said.
