Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Oceanic Affairs Mohammad Ali Fathollahi says Afghanistan is a strategic partner of the Islamic Republic and its stability and sovereignty serves Iran's interests, PRESS TV reported

In a meeting with the visiting head of Afghan Foreign Ministry's Institute of Diplomacy, Gholam Sakhi Gheyrat, in the capital Tehran on Sunday, Fathollahi said Afghanistan is a strategic partner of Iran.

Gheyrat, for his part, hailed Iran's positive interaction with Afghan refugees.

The Afghan official also underlined the need for an agreement between the two countries on expansion of research cooperation and called for Iran's assistance in the restoration of common cultural heritage of the two countries in Afghanistan.
