Some 404.691 kilograms of opium and hashish were confiscated from the smugglers across the province in the past 48 hours, the provincial police commander said on Saturday, IRNA reported.
Brigadier-General Abdolreza Aqakhani said that Samirom Anti-Narcotics Squad got suspicious of a pick-up van and stopped it. Examining the vehicle, they discovered 110 kilograms of opium hidden in its floor. Two smugglers were arrested.
Aqakhani announced discovery of other 145 kilograms of opium by the police forces in Naeen, adding that eight persons were also arrested and six vehicles were seized in the process.
In another operation in Lanjan, he said, the troops confiscated some 10.307 Kilograms of opium from a trailer with its driver arrested.
Some 48.34 kilograms of opium were confiscated and 18 retailers arrested in an operation at Falavarjan and 91.35 kilograms of hashish were also seized from a Benz sedan in Lanjan, Aqakhani said.
Noting that the drugs were destined to Tehran and Isfahan, he said that on the aggregate, some 404.691 kilograms of opium and hashish as well as nine light and heavy vehicles seized and 30 people were apprehended.
