Larijani: High turnout in election shows political maturity of Iraqis
Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani met with visiting Chairman of Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Medhat al-Mahmoud here on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
According to the report of Majlis News Agency, in the meeting, Larijani congratulated successful holding of recent parliamentary elections in Iraq, adding that strengthening regional security and stability in Iraq is very important for all countries of the region.
He added that people participation in the parliamentary elections indicated political maturity of the Iraqis.
Expressing pleasure with strengthening democracy in Iraq, Larijani called the parliament as a real representative of all ethnic groups in the country.
Larijani called signing judicial cooperation enactment between the Judicial bodies of Iran and Iraq as an important step toward strengthening judicial cooperation and continued that expansion of ties in different fields, especially parliamentary ties, are supported by the Majlis.
Medhat al-Mahmoud, for his part, expressed pleasure with being here and getting acquainted with Iranˈs achievements in the field of judicial and legal affairs.
Referring to Iranˈs unique experiences in creating conformity between Islamic laws and civil rights, he called west claims on violation of human rights in Iran totally baseless and spiteful.
By presenting a report on situation of laws and regulations in Iraq, he expressed hope on expansion of cooperation between the two countries especially in the field of judicial system and using Iranˈs experiences in this field.
Al-Mahmoud, heading an Iraqi delegation and at the invitation of Iranˈs Judicial chief, arrived in Tehran on Saturday May 17, 2014.
