BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21. Inflation in Iran increased by 55.5 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2023) compared to the same month last year, Trend reports via the Statistical Center’s report of Iran.
According to the report, families in Iran spent an average of 55.5 percent more on a number of goods and services in the first month of the year.
Monthly inflation in the first month compared to the same month last year was 77.7 percent in the group of food, beverages and tobacco products, and in the field of non-food products and services - 43.8 percent.
Cities' monthly inflation for the first month was 54.5 percent. This is 1.4 percent more in comparison with the twelfth month of last year (from February 20 through March 20, 2023). Meanwhile, inflation in the villages was 61 percent, which is 1.6 percent more compared to the twelfth month of last year.
The report indicates that annual inflation was 47.6 percent at the end of the first month (from April 20, 2022 through April 20, 2023) and increased by 1.8 percent compared to the previous period (from April 20, 2021 through April 20, 2022).
According to the report, annual inflation was 46.7 percent in Iranian cities and 52.7 percent in villages at the end of the first month. This shows an increase of 1.7 percent in cities and 2.1 percent in villages compared to the previous period.
