Iran exports about 400,000 tons of goods through customs in Markazi province

Since the beginning of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), 381,400 tons of goods have been exported through the customs in Iran’s Markazi province, Director General of Markazi Province Customs Office Esmail Hosseini said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that exports of products increased by 4 percent compared to the same period last year. He added that goods worth $225 million were exported to 58 countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

“Various hydrocarbons, fruit juices, heavy and light polyethylene, glass, crystal, polypropylene were the main export products,” he said.

He noted that during this period, 47,800 tons of goods worth $109.9 million were imported through provincial customs. The imports of goods increased by 70 percent in terms of weight and by 30 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last year, he said.

He noted that the products were imported from 45 countries, mostly from Turkey, Germany, China, India and Italy.

“Raw materials, equipment and footwear, fruit juice packages, pulp, mono propylene glycol and aluminum ingots were the main import products,” he said.

He noted that during the reporting period, 122 criminal cases related to smuggling of goods worth 151.1 billion rials (about $3.59 million) were opened. Compared with the same period last year, the number of cases increased by 15 percent and the value of smuggled goods grew 112 percent, he said.

“Cigarettes, car spare parts, electrical household items, cloths, non-electric household items and mobile phones were the main smuggled goods,” he said.
