Ali Akbar Salehi, director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, has said he does not plan to run for president.
“I consider it impudent of me to appear on the court to compete the president. I believe I know my limits,” he said in a message, Tasnim news agency reported Oct. 4.
Salehi said he chose to publish his message following speculations on media about his intentions for the presidential election that will be held in 2017.
Parties in Iran expect President Hassan Rouhani to have the highest chance the next year to win the election, seeing his accomplishments in foreign policy and economy in particular.
