Georgia increases textile exports to Turkey

Georgia exported 1,378 tons of male clothes to Turkey worth $34 million from January through December 2021, which is an increase of 96.5 percent, compared to $17.3 million (701 tons) over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Georgian exports of knitted goods to Turkey over 2021 also increased by percent to $62.4 million, compared to $39.6 million over the same period of 2020.

The volume of Georgian knitted goods exported to Turkey over the reporting period also increased by 64.4 percent to 2,136 tons, compared to 1,299 tons over 2020.

Meanwhile, Georgia imported 2,331 tons of textiles, including dress patterns, from Turkey over 2021, worth $46.6 million. The value increased by 59 percent, compared to $29.3 million worth of textile (1,443 tons) imported over 2020, while the volume increased by 61.5 percent.

Georgia’s trade turnover with Turkey in 2021 amounted to $2.1 billion, which is an increase of 40 percent, compared to $1.5 billion over 2020.
