The number of people injured in clashes during Saturday's protests in Cairo rose to 143, official MENA news agency said.
Thirteen of the injured were hospitalized, while the others have been treated at the scene of the protests in the Abbasiya area, Xinhua quoted MENA as saying.
The clashes occurred when protestors attempted to march toward the headquarters of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces in the Abbasiya district but were stopped by supporters of the army and military police.
The protestors hurled stones at the popular squad members and military police, causing casualties, MENA reported.
The military said the military police avoided using violence and exercised self-restraint in dealing with the protestors.
A military source said protestors also set cars ablaze.
