( AP ) - Dutch authorities say they have arrested the alleged leader of an international criminal gang at the request of Italian authorities.
The 27-year-old Albanian man was armed when he was arrested in an Amsterdam Internet cafe, along with three alleged accomplices, prosecutors say in a statement.
The man, whose name was not released, escaped from a police cell in Albania in 2006, where he was being held in connection with the murder of two police officers.
The anti-Mafia department in Florence wants him for alleged drug running and attempted murder.
Italy will seek his extradition, Dutch prosecutors say.
