BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. Turkish port of Mersin handled 23.8 million tons of cargo from January through August 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, over 1.4 million tons of the cargo were transported by ships under the flag of Türkiye through the port of Mersin, and 22.37 million tons by ships under the flags of other countries.
The port of Mersin handled over 177,437 tons of transit cargo in the first eight months of 2022, the ministry added.
In the reporting period, Turkish ports totally handled 264.6 million tons of cargo, of which 18.9 million tons were transported by ships under the flag of Türkiye, and 245.69 million tons – by ships under the flags of other countries.
Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 54 million tons of transit cargo.
