Azerbaijan is taking all necessary measures to prevent terrorist threats on its territory, Madat Guliyev, lieutenant-general, head of the Azerbaijani State Security Service, told reporters in Baku Dec. 12.

Guliyev said that some countries threaten Azerbaijan.

"There are threats due to the current processes in the Middle East,” he said. “However, law enforcement bodies under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev are solving these issues."

As for the operations conducted in the country’s districts, Guliyev added that the operations were carried out in a short period of time to neutralize criminals, spies.

"The employees of the state security service faced armed resistance during detention, but firmly prevented these actions,” he said. “Azerbaijani special services are working in this area together with those of other countries and exchange information."
