Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27

It is necessary to pay more attention to the implementation of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) construction project and accelerate it, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said.
"Azerbaijan and Georgia have no problems with the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor," he told reporters Nov. 27. "The different customs and land issues are solved on time.
The Trans-Anatolian pipeline (TANAP) is being constructed on schedule. TAP physical construction will start in Europe in spring 2016. All necessary permissions were obtained. The documents were prepared. The orders for pipes were made. I think we must pay more attention to TAP and accelerate the appropriate work."
At the initial stage, the gas to be produced as part of the second phase of development of Azerbaijani gas condensate Shah Deniz field is considered as the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor projects. At a later stage, other sources may join the project.
The gas to be produced as part of the Stage 2 of the field's development will be exported to Turkey and to the European markets by means of expanding the South Caucasus Pipeline and construction of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
