Turkey reduces electricity consumption and generation

Electricity consumption in Turkey decreased by 0.3 percent in January 2013 compared to the same month in 2012, amounting to 21.3 billion kilowatt/hours, the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEIAS) said in a report posted on its website on Thursday.

Electricity consumption in Turkey decreased by 0.3 percent in January 2013 compared to the same month in 2012, amounting to 21.3 billion kilowatt/hours, the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEIAS) said in a report posted on its website on Thursday.

Electricity generation in Turkey in January 2013 decreased by 3.5 percent compared to the same month of last year, amounting to 20.6 billion kilowatt / hours.

During this period, Turkey purchased 716 million kilowatt/hours of electricity in all from Georgia, Iran and Azerbaijan.

Last month, Turkey exported 525 million kilowatt / hours of electricity.
