Construction of a plant with annual capacity of 1,155,000 tons of carbamide per year in Turkmenistan’s Balkan region is planned to be finished in 2018, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news service reported.

The project’s contractor is a consortium of the Japanese and Turkish companies Mitsubishi Corporation and Gap Insaat Yatirim ve Dis Ticaret A.S.

Currently, installation of Japanese, South Korean, European and the US equipment is underway at the plant.

Turkmenistan, having huge reserves of natural fuel, aims to efficiently use raw materials in the related fields.

In particular, a new plant located on the coast of the Garabogaz Bay will, by using natural gas, produce nitrogen fertilizers. The plant will also produce 640,000 tons of ammonia per year.
