Yanukovych Allows Possibility Of Russian Black Sea Fleet Stay In Ukraine After 2017

(ukrnow) - Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych allows the possibility of Russia's Black Sea Fleet stay in Ukraine's territory after 2017. Yanukovych told this to reporters.

He noticed that decision of this question depends on necessity and benefit to Ukraine and Russia. He also stressed, that this question is to be considered from the point of view of prospects of Ukraine's and Russia's political and economic relations, reports Trend.

Yanukovych said, that he found no obstacles for calm discussion of this issue, coming from the pragmatic position without politicization of this question. He underlined, that for taking the final decision on this question Ukraine and Russia had over 10 years.

Yanukovych proposed that it could be expedient to extend the leasing term for some objects of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine.

"Probably, this question would be partially settled. Ukraine is interested that some objects to be used by our partners for the state to get profit of it", said Yanukovych.

Yanukovych emphasized, that Ukraine is certainly interested in maintaining good relation with Russia, so as Russia with Ukraine. Yanukovych shared his confidence that Ukrainian and Russian officials will find a balanced decision considering mentalities of their nations.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko guaranteed that Ukraine would stick to the regulations of the agreement on status and conditions of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on the Ukraine's territory, which is valid till 2017.
