An earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted a region locate 76 km to the central region of Bazman and 119 km to center of Iranshahr in southeastern Sistan-Balouchestan province at 8:08 p.m. local time, a senior local official said, IRNA reported.
"The quake occurred at a longitude of 45.59 degrees and a latitude of 60.27 degrees and the depth of 18,' Crisis Management Care Taker of Sistan-Balouchestan province Reza Arbabi said.
There are no reports of losses or damages so far of the earthquake of Bazman district of Iranshahr city.
Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, being crossed by several major fault lines that cover at least 90% of the country. As a result, earthquakes in Iran occur often and are destructive.
The Iranian plateau is subject to most types of tectonic activity, including active folding, faulting and volcanic eruptions. It is well known for its long history of disastrous earthquake activity.
