Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the wrong image presented to the world of the Islamic Republic's nuclear energy program must be rectified, PressTV reported.

Zarif said on Saturday that the country's Foreign Ministry must introduce the true and peaceful face of the Islamic Republic's nuclear energy program.

On Thursday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani officially assigned the country's Foreign Ministry to take charge of future nuclear talks with the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) group.

Zarif also stressed the importance of advancing the goals of the Islamic Republic without retreating from the rights of the Iranian nation.

Iran and the P5+1 group have held several rounds of talks on a range of issues, with the main focus being on Iran's nuclear energy program.

The two sides wrapped up their latest round of negotiations on April 6 in the Kazakh city of Almaty.
