Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is on the front lines defending the Islamic Revolution, ISNA news agency reported.
He made the remarks during his speech in a meeting of IRGC commanders in Tehran.
He underlined that the IRGC should keep distance from political games, adding that IRGC is beyond country's political processes.
The former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini had banned the IRGC from politics, but during past decade IRGC became massively involved in Iran's political and financial issues.
IRGC is always active in all critical issues including terror operations against Iran, resolving insecurity in first years after the revolution and eliminating the global arrogance countries' conspiracies against Iran, Rouhani said.
He underlined that all Iranian people must feel confidence, relaxation and comfort and see IRGC as their defender.
"IRGC is different from the world's classic armies"- he said, adding that enemies' fear of IRGC is not linked to its military equipments, but spirituality and devotion.
Syria crisis
Commenting on Syrian crisis Rouhani said that, Syria is located in a critical point and the problem is not linked to one person or a Clan.
He went on to note that, west has plans for the region's future.
"They have decided to reinforce Israel and debilitate resistance frontline," Rouhani added.
"The region's destiny is linked to the Syrian issue," he said, adding that the world's future may even be affected by the Syrian crisis.
"West thinks that Iran tries to find opportunities for military dominance in the region, while we do not care about that," Rouhani stated.
He argued that, Iran's power is linked to domination of its discourses including democracy, stability, unity, brotherhood and fight against terrorism in the region.
"The IRGC is not a force for war, but it is a force for security and peace," Rouhani added.
Unwanted guests should leave the region and stop spreading Iranophobia.
"Iran condemns use of chemical weapons, civil war and massacre in Syria", Rouhani said, adding that, stability should be returned to Syria and Iran will accept that person who will be elected by the Syrian people.
He also criticized western sanctions against Iran, and said that, according to the Iranian Supreme Leader, using nuclear weapons is unlawful.
He also dismissed rumours linked to IRGC's economic activities.
Rouhani said that, IRGC is not a competitor of private sector and should take part in major projects that private sector is note able to undertake it.
"I urged the Commander of the IRGC to take role in few national projects," he said, arguing that in the current situation of the country the IRGC must undertake some major national projects due to western sanctions.
He also said that, IRGC can assist the administration in fight against goods smuggling.
