Georgian Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili gets acquainted with the construction of hydropower stations on the river Bakhvistskali in the village of Mtispiri of Ozurgeti region (Guria region, Western Georgia) on Tuesday.
A cascade of three hydroelectric power stations - Bakhvi-1 capacity of 15 MW, Bakhvi-2 - 20 MW and Bakhvi - 3 - 15 MW are constructed on this area. Some $48 million will be invested in their construction. The work will be completed in 2013. The construction is carried out by the Turkish company ATAC CONSTRUCTION AND INDUSTRY.
The facility employed 480 people. Bakhvi-3 will be commissioned in October. Electricity generated by hydropower cascade is intended for domestic consumption, but if necessary can also be exported, the Premier said.
