Iran's citizens detained for illegal drug turnover in Azerbaijani border region

Roughly 14 people detained for illegal drug turnover in south region of Azerbaijan bordering with Iran. Seven of these people are Iran's citizens.

Roughly 42 criminal facts connected with drug were registered within six months of 2009. Roughly 111 kilogram 662 gram of drug were withdrawn from illegal turnover, regional department on south region of head department for combat with drug under the interior ministry told Trend .

Approximately 92 kilograms 167 gram hashish, 17 kilograms 433 gram - heroin, 262 gram - opium, 1 kilogram 800 gram - psychotropic preparation (tramodol) were among withdrawn drug.  

Most part of drug withdrawn by employees of regional department falls on Lankaran region.

Roughly 50 kilogram 415 gram drug was withdrawn in this region on 16 facts of illegal turnover.

Roughly 45 kilogram 250 gram of drug (12 facts) was withdrawn in Bilasuvar region, 9 kilogram 818 gram (6 facts) in Jalilabad region, 4 kilogram 895 gram (6 facts) in Yardimli region and 1 kilogram 285 gram (2 facts) in Salyan region.

Most facts of illegal drug turnover was connected with smuggling.

Drug was revealed in the amount of 75 kilogram 387 gram in the first six years more than in corresponding period of 2008. Roughly 36 kilogram 275 gram of drug was withdrawn on 33 criminal facts within six months. Roughly 22 people were arrested.
