The Azerbaijani scientists took part in an international scientific conference "Nizami and Navoiy: historical and cultural context" held in the Samarkand State University, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan told Trend.

The Azerbaijani scientists took part in an international scientific conference "Nizami and Navoiy: historical and cultural context" held in the Samarkand State University, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan told Trend.

The conference was organized by the International Institute for Central Asian Studies of UNESCO in accordance with UNESCO' call to carry out activities to promote greater convergence of cultures and peoples and was dedicated to the works of two eminent poets and thinkers of the East - Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoiy.

The scientists, literary scholars, linguists and historians from Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan attended the conference.

Ph.D. Mehdi Kazimov made a report on "Some aspects of nasir on" Khamsa "of Nizami". Azerbaijani National Academy Sciences Literature Institute's Department Head Cand.Phil.Sci Shirindil Alishanov presented a report on "Estimation of Alisher Navoiy' heritage in the Azerbaijani philological thought." Academy's Oriental Literature Institute Senior Researcher Cand.Phil.Sci Saadat Shikhyeva made a report on "The Azerbaijani-Uzbek literary connections in the 15th-16th centuries (based on the poetry of Sayyid Imadaddin Nasimi).

The conference also discussed issues of development, relations and mutual influence of medieval Turkic and Persian literature. Excursion to the historical monuments of Samarkand and Bukhara was also organized for the conference participants.
