The Bucharest-based "Balcanii şi Europa" (Balkans and Europe) magazine named President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev "Person of the Year". In its December issue, the magazine published an article titled "Person of the year 2010 - Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev", AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The jury including economic, political, cultural experts as well as representatives of media and NGOs took into account his political, economic, scientific, cultural and humanitarian accomplishments, contribution to Romania-Azerbaijan relations and signing of the AGRI project (Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania interconnector), which will help solve Europe`s energy problems.
The awarding ceremony is scheduled to take place in February in Baku.
The awards are presented annually in the politics, economics, justice, human rights, culture nominations.
To date, the magazine has awarded heads of states and governments, and politicians from South-East European countries.
