Uzbek President Islam Karimov received a member of the Lower House of the Spanish Parliament and former Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos Cuyaubé on Thursday, the Uzbek National Information Agency reported.
During the meeting, a number of views were exchanged on Uzbek-Spanish relations, the agency reported. Uzbekistan is particularly attentive to further developing a close partnership with Spain on political, economic and cultural-humanitarian issues, as well as to reinforcing cooperation among international organizations.
Intensifying cooperation on trade, economic and investment issues is highly important, as Spanish companies are working on joint projects to provide high-speed passenger trains to the Tashkent-Samarkand region and other such projects. Promising work in the energy sector and other spheres of development are being studied.
In addition to other issues of mutual interests under discussion, a significant potential for cooperation was noted in the implementation of joint projects in the FIEZ Navoi.
