Azerbaijan will not act as a springboard in case of any operation against Iran, the country's First Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov told journalists on Friday.
Asgarov said Iran is neighbor country of Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is interested in resolving such cases through negotiations," Asgarov added.
The U.S. and other Western countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies the charges, saying that its nuclear program is aimed at meeting the country's electricity needs.
A number of states and organizations imposed sanctions against Iran, demanding it to ensure full transparency of its nuclear program and prove it exclusively peaceful purposes. The United States extended the sanctions list against Iran by introducing additional measures against the country's Intelligence and Security Ministry in mid-February.
At present, there are four sanction resolutions of the UN Security Council against Iran.
