Azerbaijan and Greece have quite fruitful cooperation, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told reporters Feb. 2.
"We have discussed a number of issues on bilateral and regional cooperation during the meeting with my counterpart," the minister said.
Issues of energy cooperation and cooperation within the framework of the EU were also on the agenda of the talks, said the minister.
Greece believes that Azerbaijani gas will reach Europe in the next two-three years, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said at a briefing after talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias is in Azerbaijan on an official visit.
Greece plans to receive Azerbaijani gas and has already resolved all issues related to the infrastructure, said the head of the Greek foreign ministry. "We hope that we will get Azerbaijani gas in the coming years."
Greece considers it important to use the TAP project and to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe, he said.
The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. It envisages the transportation of gas from the Caspian region to the European countries through Georgia and Turkey.
At the initial stage, the gas to be produced as part of the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field is considered as the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor project. Other sources can also connect to this project at a later stage.
