The Latvian government allowed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to rent quarters in the central part of Baku for its embassy in Azerbaijan, the press service of the Latvian State Chancellery told Trend.

Latvia supposes to pay $5,000 (around 3,000 lats) for 300 quadratic meters in a month. MFA noted in its explanation to the government that they attracted 3 local estate agencies to the search of the quarters, considered 30 possible versions and regarded the quarter on the 6th floor of the Caspian Plaza business center as suitable, taking into consideration of requirements of NATO and EU.

The standard rent at Caspian Plaza is $24 per square meter in a month, but Latvia has managed to reduce it to $16.70 per square meter, as the contract is planned to be concluded for 5 years. The rent includes payment for guard, cleaning, use of elevator and two underground parking lots for diplomats cars.

It is supposed that the number of the staff of the Latvian embassy in Baku will comprise 5 i.e. 3 diplomats and 2 wage employees, BNS reports.
