The Third International Arts Festival "Maiden Tower", jointly organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery "Maiden Tower" and the State Historical-Architectural Reserve Icherisheher, will be held on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Baku on May 17-19, the Foundation said.

This year the festival, intended to promote the Maiden Tower in the world, which is one of the symbols of Azerbaijan's capital and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, will be attended by famous artists from 18 countries worldwide.

By decorating Maiden Tower models with patterns in national style, the festival participants will create works that reflect synthesis of different cultures and national traditions, as well as mutual cultural exchange.

Unlike previous festivals, gazelle models will be presented at the festival for the first time this year to draw attention to the "Caucasian Big Five" animals, standing on the brink of extinction within IDEA environmental campaign. They will be decorated by artists, who attended previous competitions and are now friends of the festival.
Another feature of this year's festival will be introducing video-mapping technology at the Maiden Tower.

At the closing ceremony of the festival, colorful images will be recreated on the walls of the Maiden Tower by projecting tower models created at the previous festivals and corresponding architecture of the historical monument.

Modern post-production video technology will be used while creating the images. Thirty projectors will be directed from seven different points in order to get circular 360-degree images on the walls of the Maiden Tower. Residents and guests of Baku will be able to see these colorful images until May 29.

So far, over 40 artists from various countries have attended the international Maiden Tower festivals.

In addition to the fact that the festival will familiarize international artists with Azerbaijan's art and culture, it also continues to contribute to promoting the Maiden Tower in the world.

Unique author works created within the project have been already displayed in France and Italy and presented to the public.
