Girkan State Natural Reserve established

By the decree of the Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers of 21 December 2005 the Girkan state natural reserve was established, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan (MENR) told Trend.

The goal of the natural reserve establishing covering 2252 hectares is protection of migration directions of wild animals being under the threat of extinction and registered in the “Red Book” of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Ecology conducts works for introducing the Girkan forests into the UNESCO World Heritage list. Girkan forests are fully nature protection area.
