Further Five Azerbaijani Banks Interested in Mobile Banking Service

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 February / Trend corr I. Khalilova/ Five more banks have shown interest in the mobile banking service, which is available for Azercell subscribers, through the Azericard processing centre's system. The pilot project has involved two banks namely the International Bank of Azerbaijan and Bank Respublika. Azerigazbank, Bank Standard, AtaBank, Bank of Baku and other banks may now also join the system.

The peculiarity of the service is that the subscribers can pay for the communication and electric energy through a mobile phone, even being abroad. The service costs 22 call units.

Mobile Banking enables the clients to be informed of the state of their accounts (recent operations, incoming and outgoing funds) 24 hours per day.

Azericard is confident that Mobile Banking will become very popular in Azerbaijan. Though currently only 120 clients are subscribed to the service, their number in Kazakhstan, where it was introduced in 2005 reached 285,000.

Azericard, established by the International Bank of Azerbaijan, serves 30 banks.
