Belarus, Azerbaijan to deepen economic cooperation

Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorski will pay one-day visit to Baku to discuss prospects of economic cooperation, the Azerbaijani government said.

"The government delegation of Belarus in Azerbaijan is going to lobby for a number of economic projects, in which Belarus is interested," the government said.

In this regard, Belarusian delegation will include Minister of Agriculture and Food Semyon Shapiro, Trade Minister Valentin Chekanov, Deputy Minister of Architecture and Construction Anatoly Nichkasov and Deputy Minister of Industry Gennadi Sviderskiy.

A source in the government said Belarus is interested in establishing a logistics center in Azerbaijan, shipments Azerbaijani of agricultural products, production of Belarusian buses and elevators in Azerbaijan, and expanding range of goods in foreign trade.

"In particular, Belarus is interested in deliveries of Azerbaijani grapes, but the as perishable agricultural products are the main point, the guests are going to discuss in Baku schemes to avoid rise in value of goods," a source said. 

"Belarus does not possess crude resource, but has a good machine-building complex, while Azerbaijan is rich in natural resources. Therefore, especially in the context of world crisis, it is necessary to assess the economic benefits in all economic decision-making," the government said.
